Isolated circuits and the EICR are they included?

If some one drops tails or locks off a circuit for any reason, be it faulty or simply not used, is it tested or reported on an EICR? In other words if a landlord knows a circuit would get a C1 or C2 and he decommissions it before the test then recommissions it after is there something we should...

Lead sheathed 2 core lighting circuits /EIC

Evening All, I'm changing a CU from rewirable to 6 x RCBO in a Victorian flat. The two lighting circuits are lead sheathed 2 core, they appear physically undamaged though I've yet to test them but is this an automatic EIC fail? The switches and pendants are all plastic. Thanks for any pointers, Pete

Hi folks, Friend is currently renovating his house, including a loft conversion. He had originally hoped to go with Grade F1 (tamper proof batteries) radio interlinked alarms. Two or more circuits in a junction box (521.8.3)

When looking up a reference on another thread I noticed rule 521.8.3 that says "Where two or more circuits are terminated in a single junction box this shall comply with BS EN 60670-22" and it got me wondering what BS EN 60670-22 actually says that has an implication for two or more circuits...

    UK Lighting circuits

Just interested to know the most common method of wiring lighting circuits. My dad always went down the JB route. I prefer looping in/out at the ceiling rose, but am finding many are now looping from switch to switch. Any thoughts chaps?

Correct grounding of metal junction box w/splices for 3 circuits

I have 3 circuits (microwave, disposal, and dishwasher) entering a metal box where the THHN wire will be spliced to Romex. I spent half an hour reading 2020 NEC Article 250 but didn't see multiple circuits specifically addressed. To ground the box do I just need to pigtail off of one circuit's...

    Sub mains / distribution circuits

Hi all, new here, just looking for a few pointers. I'm not doing this, just keeping my brain active in these weird times with things i've not learnt yet. How do you calculate cables etc for a single phase sub main (to a garage for instance) - is it the same as a cooker? Ib> In> etc etc?? TIA

How is this switch powered? I thought all circuits needed a neutral?

Usual problem with smart switches - no neutral at the switch, been plenty of threads on it before. Fortunately managed to find some switches that don't need one. So the circuit's permanently 'complete' since the switch is permanently 'on', and actually power is going to the light, but not...

Borrowed neutral / RCD trips but circuits still live ?!

I’m just a homeowner, so please forgive me if my question sounds stupid .... i think the lights in the hall of my small bungalow are using a borrowed neutral. I recently went to fit a new light on the ceiling in the hall using the existing connections and turned off the MCB that said “Hall...

Restoring circuits after temporary "distress change"

Am currently pondering the following situation: - Single phase PVC board, domestic, in an area where TN-C-S is the norm (underground supply etc). - Most circuits protected by 30mA RCD, except lights (B6 60898 MCBs). - Pre-checks before simple job (on garage circuit) reveal no earthing...

    New house unknown circuits

Hi - I just moved into a new house. The box has a circuit labeled "Central Vac" and 2 labeled "Septic." The house does not have a central vacuum. I do have a septic system that as far as I know does not use a pump or any electrical power. Any idea why these circuits would be there?
