Not really extending, but replacing knackered end of cable. Customer has ceiling pull-cord switch for shower not working. Switch is knackered and 6mm supply cables are corroded and their insulation is cracked on conductors that are showing within the switch. Load cable looks good. I am hoping...
Hello all
What would be the safest and best way to extend 1.5mm twin and earth lighting cable for a wall mounted mirror with light incorparated the cables are probably 6/7 inches shy of the connection block.
I was thinking crimping or connector blocks but i have heard of good reports of wago...
A customer has 2 lights on a 30m circuit in 1.5mm swa which is buried half way round the perimeter of the garden and the lights are spurred off it at the end via Y boxes, they want another 10 lights added.
I would normally use Wiska boxes & earth clamps but they want it as discrete as possible...
I am changing my home CU for my NIC inspection. At the moment i have a rewirable fuse CU in a 1960's house so thought its about time its changed. On initial inspection everything seems in order, ok it all need to be brought up to 17th standards and none of the lighting circuits have an earth but...
Hi guys,
I'm not an electrician but have dabbled a bit in the past. So with my fairly basic knowledge can someone kindly give me a few pointers on adding some more garden lights? (basic ground level spikes - 240v). I already have 3 of these in my garden but I'd like to add 3 more to the...
Evening chaps,
I've got a customer who needs power to a shed. It's going to be 4mm 3core swa cleated along a wall.
His CU is an old RCD isolator MEM.
The plan is swa from main CU to 2x way shed CU.
The cupboard which contains the CU has NO room in it. It's absolutely chokka with isolators...
Hi hopefully this is in the right place.
I have been looking to extend the virgin phone line, from one end of our flat to the other.
The main is in one of the bedrooms (office at time of installation) at the front of the house and I want it in the living room now. It looks like someone has...
hi guys
recently ive came across jobs where the customer wants cables extended in switches and sockets as they are getting there outside walls dry lined for insulation, and am wondering what is the best practice to do this
Heyup
Need to bond a gas meter thats around 1.5 to 2 Metres away from the water stop tap. The water is done in 10mm already so i was thinking if i solder or crimp and extend to gas meter aswell will this comply as i know if you do both the cable shouldnt be broken but if i crimp/solder the...
Hi, i need to extend the probe and power cables to some underfloor heating, can i use 1.5mm for the probes and 2.5mm for the power? the stat is an aube floor sensor with no ambient sensor
many thanks.
Can anyone tell me the correct way to extend cables. I have seen many people using pre-insulated crimps, and yet they are not supposed to be used on solid core cable.
Hi all, I have 2 customers who need there boards extended which is fine when it comes to the tails as 3mtre tails are easy to get but when it comes to the circuits themselves is it ok to extend circuits with crimp connectors?or other means?Dont really like using crimp connectors as it looks...
Hello
I need to change a consumer unit and move it slightly. This will mean extending about 10 circuits. I think than 10 32Amp JBs will look a bit unsightly. Is there a better way?
Have been asked to look at adding an extra alarm for a customer as building control have told them they require an extra fitting. (I think they are renting out the house).Have done some Googling about & reading through my Aico Handybook, so have come up with this:
The Smokes are on their own...
Hi there I've been forced in to move and join 6 coax cables in a loft my question is what is the best conection method and name any suggestions would be great.
