    Flex in a consumer unit

    Hello there, Is there any regulation regarding the use of flex in consumer units. eg. Can a 1.5 x 3core be used as a supply cable from an 6a mcb to a fused spur feeding downlights? I came across this the day and I was curious if it was within the regs. Thanks for your time.

    Testing a flex

    My (newish) oven switches off intermittently. When it is off and I test the flex with a voltage detector pen, there does not appear to be any power there. When I flick the switch on the wall the oven comes back on. I have changed the switch, but the same thing happens. Should I replace the flex?

    What happens when you send maintained 250amps through 1mm flex.

    I do this so you dont have to ;). Sending 250amps through a 1mm approx 10amp rated flex...... down the earth core until it evaporated the copper. You can see how the earth spirals in pic 2 as it burns and melts away all the insulation and sheath adjacent to it.... i expect it got a tad...
