Hey guys, did a loop circuit today going from a 13A connection unit to a ceiling rose and a 3 plate batten lamp controlled by a 1 way, 1 gang switch now it all works fine; Tested and then made live but i'm not sure how it works? so why certain wires connect here and there. It's easy following a...
got the earth loop tester i ordered
it arrived a full week ahead of schedule
the thing is a bit of a beast! came in a handsome case with heavy short and long leads (with rather stout clips on them)
2 earth spikes and manual(chinese manual, but manufacturer included a link to download it in...
getting one of these for my shopearth loop tester
and have to train the apprentices with it'
only bad thing is my bean counter boss wont pay for one so i have to buy it myself.
just so he knows it will be my personal property and i take it with me when i retire
I encountered a strange one the other day, new armoured supply to a shed, Ze at the Rcd main switch in the shed was 0.40, R1+R2 was 0.24 on the supply armour. When I did a earth loop on one if the sockets I got 1.09 which was high considering the run so I did a no trip test on the outgoing...
136.4 ohms at lights whilst doing the loop test before we change the board. Guessing they've been lucky ? Plus side is I get to put an earth stake in were see how much I remeber from the one I did 2 years ago
My test meter only works on 230v....
So... Is there a way of working out the Earth fault loop impedance on a 110v supply that is supplied by a hardwired 110v Centre tapped to earth transformer?
Anyone else come across this.
I have some additional 110v sockets to fit in a workshop but need to...
im bulding my first tool kit so i was browsing round for a socket tester and this came up. and it got me thinking how useful would the loop test even be. and wouldnt these need a calibration etc Martindale EZ150 E-Ze check Xtra Non-Trip Earth Loop Impedance Socket Tester | eBay
Hi all,
I am hoping someone can clarify if my understanding on earth fault loop impedance testing is correct.
A low efli is needed so a protective decive can operate in the required time, the lower the z the quicker it will operate.
ZE= External resistance from borad to supply, board...
Hi,
Excuse my ignorance.
I have a electrical panel with a 240v ac to 24 v dc rectifier. The outgoing circuit breaker is 63amp as the 24v d will be stepped up by a power supply unit in the next panel.
Is an earth loop impedance test required for the 24 v dc supply?
Thanks
hi
I was on a job testing incoming supply on a TT systems the earth loop reading was 2,53ohms now what my question is
It was a 2 commer 53 i am guesting that means 2.53ohms if you test result are lower you get 0.12 (point )why does it change to a commer or am i reading it wrong
Hey,
I've just past my trade test and was placed on a new build to complete the 2nd fix
as the guy who roughed it has left.
Anyway, he's wired the lights using the loop method at the switches, I've never did this
previously as I would always do the joint at the ceiling rose, this has thrown me...
As the title suggests, I got my am2 results last week and passed everything apart from earth loop impedance but I've no idea why. Im sure I disconnected the main earth and tested all the phases etc so I'n just wondering if theres any additional things they require me to do in the Am2 that I...
Hopefully someone can answer this query for me.
I'm more used to domestic installations but have taken on a job in a workshop. The workshop is around 80m away from the intake which is a 3 phase TN-C-S supply. The workshop is new but I'm using an existing 16mm 4 core SWA cable. I'm using the...
Evening all..
I have been asked to install 2 garden lights, the chap says most likely they will be spike lights in the ground. I was wondering how everyone loops them together? There will be SWA coming from the house to first light and also SWA linking 1st to 2nd light
I have had a good look...
Hi ,
A quick question about wiring downlighters. I am wiring college rooms, it is on price, so its kind of a rush job. There are 3 downlighters all about a meter from each other in the ceiling. The way the contractor wants it done, is loop in, loop out, meaning 3 choc boxes and connector...
Hi guys I was wondering if someone can help me with a question on my 2394 paper it says:
Why is it necessary to carry out an earth fault loop impedence test before carrying out an RCD test
My answer:
Because an earth fault loop impedance test will prove that there is a fault path to...
Hello Gents,
I have to carry out an earth loop test on several fluorescent lighting circuits, can anyone advise of the least intrusive but quickest means of carrying out these tests.
Thanks

Hi everybody,
I have encountered a problem with EFL (Zs) testing a couple of times recently.
I have had unusually high readings for the length of circuit and earthing system type and the increase in impedance seems to be coming from resistance across the line pole of the RCD in the consumer...
Hi I've done a Ze test on a TNS system and it's come back as 0.14 ohms is this reading ok as the max is 0.8 is there not a min amount you can have thanks
