Hi Guys,
I am just changing my plug top oven over & gas hob and noticed the following:
32AMP Breaker > 6MM Cable > Cooker Switch 45a > 4mm cable > Double Socket which powers both.
13a Plug Top Oven replacing the previous same plug top. Gas Hob and just powers the igniter.
Is this right or do...
Howdy experts,
I normally run 6mm T+E for cooker circuits, housing authority spec. I'm changing my gas inbuilt double oven and hob for electric/induction to pre-prep for the upcoming winter gas shortage.
Has anyone done 2x45A cooker isolators on the same circuit, I ran 10mm and a 40A MCB...
I'm interested what people's gut reaction solution would be.
Kitchen design and customer said freestanding cooker. So I first fix 10mm, and boxes for cooker switch with socket, and cooker connection plate.
No one thought to tell me it became hob (elsewhere, that bit isn't a problem), and a...
Hi all and please forgive me if this has been asked many times before,
I'm trying to purchase and get installed by one of the national electrical appliances retailers a single oven but I'm getting slightly confused as to what they are wanting to charge me for?
So here my supply, 32amp from...
Every time oven gets to temperature it trips the RCD. Thought the oven must be knackered so got a new one. That does the exact same thing. Any ideas? I should add that this is a brand new house. Just moved in yesterday
Hi, The current state of play is a standalone combined oven and hob supplied by single cooker circuit with 40A RCBO, 6mm cable, isolated by cooker control switch and the unit is hardwired to cooker connection unit.
The plans are to change to built in oven and separate hob. The supply demands...
Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me, I'm trying to work out which two of these three microswitch tabs to use. I have a Hotpoint Hug52 oven and the grill won't stay lit. I checked the thermocouple and it looked in a poor state so I have installed a new one. I took a photo of the wires on...

Hi all,
Just after a bit of knowledge to satisfy my own curiosity - hope this is allowed within forum rules 🙂
I’ve just had a new kitchen installed and the electrician came today to connect two single ovens. They are each connected to their own MCB on different sides of the CU.
One of the...
I Knew it was going to be one of those days when my first customer couldn't understand why his 9.5kw standalone oven/hob kept cutting out because it was on the old gas ignition 1mm flex & plug. I showed him the how the cable was red hot and the plug half melted but, as usual in these cases...
Hi all,
Recently had to replace one of the 25w pygmy lamps in my oven, first lamp lasted around 2 weeks before it blew, I just thought its probably a dud lamp so got a new one and put it in, however it failed after only around 3 weeks. So I've had two 25w pygmy lamps fail in 5 weeks, seems...
Hi. I got a new oven the other day and it was working fine. Last night, I swapped out the 45A wall switch for a brushed brass type one. The neon light lit up, the clock on the oven came on, job done. However, today I went to grill cheese on toast and the grill only got moderately warm. Its also...
Hello, new here!
Would greatly appreciate some input. I'll first say I intend to get an Indesit technician to take a proper look tomorrow, but I'm curious.
A couple of hours ago I tried to switch the main oven on as usual - the oven is only 2-3 yrs old - and a spark came from behind the...
My indesit ifw6340 oven packed up recently. Was working fine, turned it on and it never heated up. Tried it again the next day and and it gave me an error code F53. Turned off from mains, no error code, but still not getting to temp. Grill and fan both work fine.
I cannot find F53 error...
Hi all, I'm new on here....
I have an existing 32A cooker circuit with a wall switch with 13A plug hole. The manufacturer says the new oven is hardwired and is 16A.
Can I just replace the breaker in the consumer unit with a 16A one and use the existing wiring?
Current breaker is a Proteus...
A long shot, but I thought I'd ask anyway...
A customer has a brick built, wood fired pizza oven, outdoors in their garden. And they want lighting in it, so they can see when the pizzas are done. Tricky. Has anyone got any ideas of how this might be achieved?
I presume there isn't a...
A strange small job this afternoon.
Stoves oven : another sparks had proclaimed the element was faulty and causing the RCD to trip. Householder had already purchased a new element. The original sparks has since been unwell. Slight suspicion crept in that I'd find wires dropped down the back, or...
