Hello all: First post from a DIY'er.
My daughter, who lives in a Dallas, Tx suburb, has asked me to connect her new electric oven. Her previous oven was gas. I asked her to send me a pic of any outlets in the cabinet opening once she removed the old oven. (See Pics Below) The house was built...

I am preparing for new kitchen and have a new 16amp built in single oven to replace the existing freestanding double oven.
The existing oven is hard wired -this enters wall in a blanked off fitting-which i assume runs up to the Cooker Socket which has an on off switch and a plug socket too...
I've just installed a new kitchen consumer unit with RCBOs. The client says the oven RCBO is now tripping when it cools down. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Greetings everyone. My first post here, having read a similar thread, I understand that following the manufacturers guidance is all important. So, if anyone could help please, here's my question :
I am replacing a single fan oven currently connected using a 13A plug into a socket which is...
I have a Hotpoint SA2 540 HIX with possibly 2 faults
The clock keeps going to reset mode and the display sometimes shows F12
The F12 clears if I turn the oven On then Off again.
The clock reset is an annoyance, however if I have Auto On set it will cancel it out.
Any Ideas?
Oven trips the Rcd when heating up. Does it twice then after that it will work fine. I’ve tested the circuit and it’s clear, I’ve disconnected the fan in the oven and it’s still tripped. Then I’ve took the element out and insulation resistant tested it and it’s testing fine, any other ideas what...
I noticed yesterday the element has starting bending down why is this happening and is it still safe to use until it can be replaced in a few weeks?
Thank you
Our 20 year old Kitchen aid double ovens have finally bit the dust and we need to replace them. I don't want to cut into our cabinets, so although we looked at Bosch, Dacor and Kitchen Aid, the Bosch will not fit so that's out.
I've heard great things about the Dacor, that it bakes incredibly...
Went to look at a fault earlier, oven tripping the RCD. Opened the oven to check the element as that was my initial thought, 2 of the wee crimped connections were all burnt and just snapped off. Is there any point in trying to re crimp then or is it better just to get a new oven?? It’s an old oven
Been asked to fit new oven , which comes with a 13a plugtop , there is no socket close to plug into , if i cut plug off and connect into cooker unit connection behind cooker , do i have to adjust the 30a cooker unit fuse.
The house I purchased a few years back came with a gas oven. I am looking to upgrade to a duel-range oven (gas top, electric oven) and therefore am looking to install an outlet where the stove is.
My plan is to install the outlet myself and run the wire to the box and then pay a professional to...
Hello first post
I inherited a secondhand freestanding Belling Oven (make and model below)
BEL FSE 60 MF
Model Number 444449575
Serial number 31222241
Was working fine for just over 1.5 years until I smelt burning plastic. Disconnected the "cooker flip switch" power supply in my home's...
The oven i brought for my new flat is Bosch HBS534BS0B
I have a cooker circuit thats on 40 amps fed in a think its 6mm not sure it might be 10mm is there any easy way to tell 6 and 10mm apart?
If the cirxuit is downgraded to 16 amps can that oven be wired into the cooker outlet point
I am trying to fix a Zanussi oven, the heating element on it is not working. In the meantime I have put a new oven in the kitchen. I will need to purchase the right heating element for the Zanussi model etc. I wish to fix a normal 13 amp plug whilst I fix the oven and refurbish it so I can sell...
Hi all. Having a problem with my double oven. I turned it on today, (it was already on as in the clock was displayed, but as I turned the knob for the oven to come on) there was a spark and killed the fuse and RCD. Turning it all back on proved the oven as dead. Power is getting into the back...
Thank you for your time ? I have an oven that connecting directly to the 3-phase source (3N in the pictures below).
However, this is quite annoying, because the oven is fixed close to the source. Hence, I would like to know whether it is possible to wire as 1N instead, i.e. wiring the device's...
Hi everyone.
There is something that confuses me so I hope someone could answer.
There is an electrical Hob which is 7.8KW and electrical oven which is lets say manufacture instruction says 13A so somwhere around 2.0KWs.
If you apply diversity on Hob it comes to somwhere around 17A and I know...
I understand this could be because there is no bonding, but just want to know how it’s possible for the pipework/sink to become live?? Is it through a fault on another circuit finding it’s way to the pipework?
Does anyone fault find appliances?
The element in a fan oven was >500Ω so I replaced it, still no heat.
Got the back off and my multimeter on it for a bit of disconnected dead testing:
thermostat <1Ω
overheat cut out <1Ω
selector switch - grill element, light, & fan connections all <1Ω
fan...
