Hi all. Have a single phase cne tnc-s intake inside a lucy cabnet supplying 20 LED sreet lighting columns. Ze @ intake was greater than 0.35 so intake was earthspiked and a RCD installed changing earthing system to TT. @ lucy I have a contactor being controlled/switched by a photocell (located @...
OK we are told RCBOs are the way to go.
Agreed.
Because this will do away with using a RCD but, and I guess this has been questioned and possibly answered before, why buy an RCBO that only protects phase side (single pole RCBO) of the cct?
Have I missed something?
Do we put in one RCD!?
Fred
I have done a few of these jobs for the same client. Install a 315a fused TPN isolator in their new heating centres. All the others I have done UKPN have bought in a PME supply so I have just mounted the fused isolator with tails into the CT chamber ready for me to do the follow up at a later...
Afternoon Chaps .
Just a quickie lol. Can you verify that you do not need to install a RCD in a flat on the 12th floor of a hi rise block.. Thanks guys
Good morning
Can I pick your brains please? This morning at home the RCDs on our fuse box controlling both the sockets and the lights kept tripping. We reset them and they'd hold for a while and then trip out again. I've tried turning off things I had on individually to see if I could...
Hi guys I have a question: how the tests carried out on the 500mA RCD would differ from those carried out on the 30mA for test sockets outlet protected by RCDs 30mA Any hints??
Im my opinion test instrument disply large value times???
...cos if the lamp is in effect Class II with connections only to L and N (Edison screw; standard bayonet cap in unearthed pendant or batten), you would naively think there is no way the L and N can be in imbalance. But still the RCD trips. Definitely talking RCD trips here not MCB. I've seen...
Hi everybody,
I have encountered a problem with EFL (Zs) testing a couple of times recently.
I have had unusually high readings for the length of circuit and earthing system type and the increase in impedance seems to be coming from resistance across the line pole of the RCD in the consumer...
Evening gents bit of advice required please I have recently finished a partial rewire (upstairs sockets upstairs lights and smokes). All is fine apart from when I turned under unit lights on in kitchen it tripped both rcds. There is 1 2 gang switch in kitchen 1 for main kitchen light and 1 for...
Was at a property toady which I've done previous work before including fuseboard change. All i did today was change a few socket plates over for new ones. Took some Zs readings and noticed they were very near the limit of being acceptable ie: 0.92, 0.98 etc.
Took a Ze at the board with main...
Hi Guys
Just been to a late 90s build house. 10 circuits in a Hager 14 way box, no RCDs, one standard ouside socket. Customer would lik RCDs to be fitted.
1. If I fit RCDs in the box I assume I only have to test the RCDs but if I replace the box I have to fully test the complete...
I recently installed a split board wylex consumer unit in a tt system that had been converted from a tns system by the provider about three years ago.The old system consisted of a consumer unit with old mini breakers only. When the system was changed to a tt the provider installed a 100Ma rcd...
I have just installed a 2 phase system with 2 Solar Edge inverters (3.7kW per phase) Each pv system is fed through a shared Elster A1100 3 phase meter and each one runs fine on its own. When connected at the same time the RCDs on both system trip. The only way I can make it work is to bypass the...
done a small job today. just a socket & SFCU ( for a light) in customer's shed, on existing feed. feed cable is 2.5mm on a 16A MCB, RCD protected. cable tested OK, installed bits. Zs 2.4Ω. ramp test of RCD, mft reads>51mS. prerssed test button on RCD (which the customer said had never been done...
Our house has a TN-S system and the consumer unit has only a main switch and mcbs. There are no RCDs on any circuits apart from a single socket in the conservatory.
Reading up (for a coming exam) I see in the On-Site Guide 3.6.1 that RCDs are required for (amongst other locations):
ii. socket...
