i never said i would turn violent i was pointing out the potential situations you could find yourself in,if your so concerned why dont you drive round and knock on all the doors of installs you dont agree with and report your findings.

I'm not about to do that but I believe I wouldn't be involved in any slanging matches or end up in a fight. It's how you present yourself that brings on a situation like that.
I'm just looking at it from a customers point of view and feel they would benefit from the situation.

well try it,your not understanding human nature, once you knock on a strangers door and tell them they have been ripped off they wont thank you,you might as well tell him his wifes ugly and his kids arnt his.

If you use the opening line, "Oi mate, you've been ripped off...." then it's not going to go down too well is it?
There's more polite ways of starting a conversation.

Thats why so many people come on here for advice...because they are all closed minded... glass houses and stones come to mind...

there is,mine often starts with what you doing tonite, when she says she going out with her hubby i'll take that as a no...never tried the' your solar panels are **** line' might work..

May I chip in?
If you see a poor install, that is dangerous, you then have the moral dilemma do I tell them or don't I?
So lets say you do not tell them, and the wind blows them off the roof, they land on the car on the drive and kill the kids,(so the homework and tyres do not matter anymore) how would you feel then?

The point here is a PV system has several points, It affects the structure and integrity of the building, also there is up to 1000v DC with no real protection apart from double insulation, and there are many poorly installed systems in the UK.

My opinion is I would tell them, if they do not like my polite approach then tough.

but no ones actually done it as yet,so its all hear say and bull really

Alarm man, if you don't feel compelled to inform someone that their solar install is potentially dangerous then that is up to you.

Knocking on the door as a polite, rational human being and expressing your concerns is not all the same thing as knocking on the door, barking out insults about someone's wife and daughter and then scrapping on the lawn.

Would you tell someone that they've got a flat tire? Or would you be terrified that they'd see this as a personal slur and attack you with a tire iron?

well do it then, like some solar jehovah preaching about how bad their roof is,i'll be interested in what the people say when you inform them of the dangers....

Pleased I don't live where Alarm Man lives - looks like he encounters violence at every opportunity. Then again maybe it's his approach rather than his location that results in violence.

I'd like to have the couldn't care less attitude - it's great for sleep at night, but it's not my way. Don't encounter violent customer or contractors either - all civilised where we are.
