hi ho, i just replaced replaced 8 gu10 50W bulbs in room as were blown. there is 18 on the one circuit plus 3 mini strip lights under benches very likely 18W each, they were all working when i left and when she left room she switched all 3 switches on 1 go and she said the fuse had blown, would you say by her switchen all on one go would of blown the 5A 1361 fuse ?? i personaly think to many but when you add it up its under 5 A

18 x 50W = 900W / 230V = 3.9A
3 x 18W = 54W / 230V = 0.23A so roughly 4A all in, which is under 5A

any input guys before you all go your local niteclub and dance like your up a ladder and fallling

ok back to this thread. when i was in there this morning looking i seen there is an 6Amcb on the end of the rail. so could i just get the make of that mcb and get a type c in it and remove 1361 fuse carrier and replace with the type c mcb rated at 6A.. does this make sense to you guys. i have no patience is why i get more info each time i go back or isit i have no expierience.

well even if its tn-s or tncs top values allowed by electricty board it will stil be lower than the value in the book
that would be for your Ze mate ...TNS=0.8.....TN-C-S=0.35 so you need to find out the earthing arrangements (if you dont know already) and if you dont have access to a loop tester you can add your Ze to your R1 R2 to get a Zs......but dont forget as i have mentioned earlier in this thread......if working from the big book you will need to apply the "rule of thumb" to the max TABULATED value of Zs for the overcurrent device of choice....that is to say you would times the max TABULATED not measured value of Zs by 0.8 given in tables 41.1 through to tables 41.5 which can be found on pages 46 to 50 BRG. This allows for differences in ambient tempreture so after doing this simple equasion then see if it still complies...........

for a 6A type C , BS60898, the max. allowed value of Zs ( corrected for temp.) is 3.06 ohms. as long as your Zs is below that figure, you're OK

First it was BS1361s then BS88s after that we had a bit about BS1362s then it was R1 R2.....so you cant blame me (or anyone else for that matter) for trying to explain stuff to you. As far as your fuse is comcerned ...i think people posting on this thread have already provided you with links etc. Try ebay or the internet mate. Goodbye.
