Discuss c2 or c3 in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thinking the real main problem with these forum is we spend hours picking the bones outta the regs and that's mainly because you can read it so many different ways, and pretty much make itsay what you want with a decent argument behind it. The thing is do you want to state this installation as being satisfactory on a printed/signed form for 5 years?

Ordinarily I would code it a 3 had it been a much older install but I'm agreeing with glasgospark on this one and would give it a c2 just because of the cheek of it!

lol , only one other thing (maybe wrong word but ) wrong with install was a global IR of 18.6Megohms lives linked out , other than that all ok 18.6 i know is a pass and no need for further investigation but <6 months old

i dont mind saying its satisfactory as the install ive tested is A ok electrical wise , im testing at face value , apart from the colour of cable i cant put a age on the installation

C1 - sack whoever did that 6months ago.

New install, all fresh cables and an IR of that. Christ.

That last comment is tongue in cheek btw.

It should (space permitting) to change the 60898's for 61009's, straight swap as the boards not very old shouldn't be a problem to source them

aye...but i`d be getting a Zs on all that....any thats high is a (2)
Maybe if there's an abnormally high Zs, but if it's TN-S it should be low enough to disconnect in time.

Remember an EICR is there to report dangerous conditions, not to document how you would have done it differently, eg you can't code something just because it's a bit of a dog's dinner.

I would also be inclined to increase the frequency of testing in this case to say in another 24/36 months just to check IR hasn't deteriorated even further! I'm assuming the low IR values are nothing to do with damp plaster/walls/back boxes.

If you factor in a new board (ÂŁ70ish) and your time in replacing said board (allow half a day ÂŁ120) your on way to a few rcbos there

If you replace the board though you'll have to do a EIC and full test. So more like a full day.

Keep the board, ammend to dual rcd's if possible (doubt it) or rcbo's. IMO.

This is a genuine question mark, would you not retest the whole installation if you pulled the old board apart and completely recon formed the layout of the board and added rcd protection, but if you replaced the board you would, after just doing a eicr
