Discuss c2 or c3 in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

ha ha sorry not clear meant 3036 used or the like

Ahhh, well if the fuse carrier is missing on a 3036 or incorrect fuse wire has been fitted then it's a C2 and we'd all agree on that.

However, 9/10 you'll replace the fuse wire for a adequate size during the EICR to save failing it for something trivial. :)

what I was saying is if you went to a property 6 months old and 3036 fuses installed, would not be dangerous as such but would not be up to current regs like the RCD we are talking about (sorry to ramble on)

Oh dear. Don't go there.

Yes it is non-stat...but you install something, and someone gets hurt and you've not adhered to BS7671...hello jail.

BS7671 not statutory, but Part P is statutory. Both were in force when this work was done. Part P says compliance with BS7671 is likely to meet the requirements. Therefore the work does not meet either standard, and as it breaches Part P, then it also illegal. If someone gets injured or killed, then someone s going to get prosecuted big time.

Cheers.............Howard

5 x sockets mounted on the underside of a table all upside down.. C2 or C3?
[ElectriciansForums.net] c2 or c3

Just the weight of plug tops, transformer plugs.. Chargers etc... Half hanging out the sockets due to the weight.. Surely this is creating a poor connection on the pins of the plug and socket...

If there is no evidence of thermal damage to the socket pins, then I agree no code

Yeah hair salon, mainly used for hair dryers and hair straighteners, so are being pulled about under tension, maybe worrying too much then if no one else see a potential problem.. C3 at most then

your call obviously, but it would appear most of us wouldn't bother coding!
mebbe a word in their ear about not pulling the cords so much...

you could c2 any ones which are incapable of holding a plug in properly anymore recommending replacement and just put observation for the others.
I wouldn't loose any sleep tho :)
