and what you think about the new brushless motor milwaukee has out now..... ISIT WHY THESE KITS ARE FALLING IN PRICE.

IS THE BRUSHLESS MOTOR WORTH THE EXTRA, DO YOU THINK BRUSHLESS WILL COME FROM ALL CONTENDERS NOW???

THE NEW COMBI WITH BRUSHLESS MOTOR IS £300 AND IF YOU BUY THE SDS BARE UNIT TO GO WITH IT WILL COST £600

OR GET KIT FOR £425

Brush-less motors have been out sometime now. It always seems the UK, is the last to get the new up to date models. And when you do, you get well and truly stung on the price!! lol!!

I guess it depends on whether you think there is really a problem with brushed motors. The M18 Fuel brushless claims "10x motor life and 25% more power" but according to their own specs it actually has less torque and drilling capacity than the HD18PD! Same is true of the makita brushless drill I think.

Brushless motors are generally more efficient and don't have brushes to wear out but can still burn out just as easily if overloaded. They also need much more complicated electronics as they are basically a 3 phase motor. Time will tell how reliable they are in practice I guess....

Don't think the uk is that behind on the drills is it? No more than 6 months anyway?

I was talking about drills in my post!! Think you'll find it's a little longer than 6 months, more like getting towards 12 months. From what i've seen of the contractors here's kit, which is well over 16 months old now.... The States on the other hand, always seem to get everything first, be it Japanese or European made. lol!!
