Hi
We have just spent quite a lot on having a new kitchen in another part of our house. This was a complete installation including new electrics plumbing etc.
It us now apparently finished and quite frankly the electrics scare me
The power cables are running in and out of the radiator pipes everywhere for a start. When I asked I was told it's ok it's heat protected cable.
Couple of pictures below I have many more from all over.
The hob and oven are just on a 13 amp plug and that don't seem right to me as well. The whole work is quite shocking but I will stick to electricals [ElectriciansForums.net] Help new kitchen nightmare[ElectriciansForums.net] Help new kitchen nightmare
Please could someone help me as I don't know what I should do
thnx v much for any advice
k

what a load of old cobblers.

since when has T/E been heat proofed?

you have the manufacturers instructions for the oven and hob. tell him to get someone to read them out to him, as he's obviously incapable of reading them himself.

Why has the "Installer" still got the MI??

They should have been handed to the customer.

............ Shouldn't they??? :thinking::uhoh2:

1/ Has the OP contacted a solicitor?
2/ Is he going the fight a company based on the word of random guys on the internet?

If he hasn’t done 1/ and is relying on 2/ he’s a fool. I’m sure we all know about fools and their money.

Sorry if this seems heartless (I haven’t got one) but the law is there to protect and defend people who have been wronged. The member’s views on here count for nought in the eyes of the law.

Indeed. Legal advice on an internet forum seems ill-advised!

1/ At the moment the op doesn't need a solicitor, he is in dispute with the electrician. The electrician may need a solicitor if money is withheld and he decides to chase it but that's a few steps down the line.

2/ Of course he's not going to fight this on the word of 'random guys on the internet' nobody s suggesting that, he'll fight it with the help of a qualified electrician that he will employ. He came here for advice and along with several posts helping him understand what's required, he has been advised to get another electrician to look at it.

If the views on here count for nought, why waste your time reading them?

Hi
No of course I wouldn't just rely on comments here I have 100s of photos. Emails from and too and my home security that they failed to notice
As for a solicitor I'm still hoping that they will just rectify and that won't be needed. I'm trying to give them every chance to do so haven't ever named them and don't really want them to get in any trouble To be fair we woke this morning to an email saying they had another electrician to come and look tonight.
I just don't understand that as soon as I looked at the oven hob I said to them is that right. Then after the other discoveries looking at manuals and asking around. Repeated my fears so why not just do it properly then. I'm not seeking perfection just a safe neat legal job. Then pay my balance and hopefully never see them again.
A small thing I noticed last night that I would value opinions on before they return is. In the old kitchen the washing machine was plugged in below and had a red switch above a bit like the cooker did. Surprise surprise the new washing machine and dish washer are just plugged in below with nothing else.
Anyway hopefully I will post something happier after they have been tonight. If I don't I've probably been cemented into a patio somewhere ( lol)
Thnx again all and have great week ends.

only comment here is the washing machine. the isolator above the worktop is more of a convenience than a necessity. it's there solely to allow you to isolate the machine without getting down and/or dragging it out, to isolate for service or in case of a fault.

[ElectriciansForums.net] Help new kitchen nightmareWow. Just looked in the consumer box and the gap you see is where the new circuit connected. I would think maybe it's fallen down when he was banging around putting the trunking you can see two days ago The shower goes to the cooker input.
Im starting to see a funny side to this god knows why.
Sorry it's upside down

Not blank mate and not on floor inside I suppose It's the new mains circuit from kitchen was there until he came to tidy the cables. Reckon he's yanked it up from loft and pulled it out.
I hooe it ain't inside across the others

You are right again.

His best advice was to get an independent inspection and depending on results take the legal route from there if appropriate.
