Moving a meter

Adam Bunting

Hi all, I'm after some thoughts on moving a meter and main fuse, the fuse and meter is mounted on a board which is obviously screwed to the wall. There is roughly 2m of incoming armoured above ground, so what are your thoughts on pulling the fuse, disconnecting the tails coming out of the meter relocating the the board where I need it then reconnect? I know there's issues with tags but the sparky that put the new c/u has already cut both tags on the fuse and meter to upgrade tails, I can't really see any problems because I'm not having to do anything on "there" side, what are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Adam

That's the point it's an easy job, like Geordie says, it's just four screws holding a board in place I can't think of a reason of why it would get damaged but what I want to know is it illegal? Can I get done for it lol, just to reiterate I'm not a diyer I wouldn't think any diyer would contemplate this sort of thing surely

Ok this is what I would do and have done. Providing you are a COMPETENT Spark and the incomer is NOT that awful lead stuff go ahead but carefully.

If it IS that awful lead stuff LEAVE IT ALONE!!

Neither you or Geordie know what the cable is therefore it isn’t an easy job.

So what are you if not a DIYer? You’re not a skilled electrician, otherwise you wouldn’t ask stupid questions.

Thought you said this at first. :-)

Have you shifted old PILC cables around?
I got warned off from doing it once.
NOT always straight-forward...give it a few hours basking in the gentle waft of a hot air blower...cold-blooded snakes are not known for their suppleness early in the day :stooge_curly:

The question is, how many feet will the OP be blown by the arc-flash?
Shall we have a sweep Tony? Quid a pop. I'm going for 5 because I think it's a pretty small space that it's in just now.
He'll break his spine and ribs on against a wall
I'm such a cheerful soul tonight.
