This is the perfect forum for starters to learn their craft, its free and has some very experienced sparks on here willing to help you out. You will be called a pig and a dog (no offence) but the right answers will come.

Welcome aboard and lets see the pics.........................................................

WTF? have you been to the job i'm talking about and looked at it then? It certainly looked like MICC to me.

You do know what MICC is don't you?

and what's so hard about MICC for 2391 trained (but not experienced) spark?

I only touched the stuff at college, but took two chopped through ends (by builders) and successfully joined them. It isn't hard. I would take on an MICC spec'd job without any qualms, as a qualified but relatively inexperienced (in MICC terms anyway) spark. I would hope that my understanding of electrical systems and pride in my work would help me in the overall execution of the job.

2391 was purely inspection and testing wasn't it? why'd they teach termination of MICC on that course?

You are right there is nothing hard about working with it and terminating it properly, but it is even easier to get wrong if you haven't been taught properly. My point is that these people come out of these courses and call themselves electricians without any experience or knowledge of things that
The tools and materials to do it aren't so readily available these days either. I got my tools handed down to me by the spark I did my apprenticeship with.
The job in question partly involves an imperial MICC cable which unfortunately has had the pot cut off of it, I have no issue with dealing with it but what about these 5week wonders? Its a domestic job so no reason why a 'domestic installer' shouldn't be able to do it is there?

And I am "trained" 2361 (with plenty of experience) on MICC and could teach you a few tricks with this cable!!

Super, hyper-accelerated, qualified sparks (AKA Electrical Trainee) don't rock my boat. so not bothered but there are plenty of things that do.

I wanted tongue in cheek smiley anyway but could not find one.

Its still a great forum for the un-initiated.
