Hi all.

When upgrading a fuse box to a 17th ed. CU is it a legal requirement to get an isolation switch fitted, or can it be done live. Far from ideal I know, but the £90 price tag set by manweb puts a lot of customers off.

Thanks.

Ha Ha, he may be gone some time looking for that reg, not to mention the multitude of prosecutions for cut seals. lol

Even though this thread is two days old I thought this may help other sparks in the area.

Just spoken to DNO depot at Branksome, Poole and they're happy for scam members to pull the main fuse so long as it's reported to them and they issue you with a temporary seal.

Jesus, that would include 17 Day Whizz Kids and electrical trainee's!! lol!!

I wonder who these DNO's would blame if something went very wrong?? What's the betting they will deny any such authorisation being given, and blame the offending person with unlawfully interfering with their equipment!! Unless you get said authorisation in writing (which i very much doubt) then you would be foolish in thinking that you were in any way authorised to interfere with service cut out fuses.

Nothing to stop you then interfering with a sealed meter and to steal electric, if they were going to supply you with an official company seal, temporary or otherwise!! lol!!

What I want to know is where this goner feller is getting his regs book from. He said he was 'just getting it' 2 days ago! I'm assuming he didn't find his magic reg and so decided to leave it. :) Daz
