only on metal hulled ships. with wooden hulled ships, they were TT, the anchor being the earth rod. when under sail, nelson had to do without his morning toast as the ship had no earth and health and safety wouldn't allow the electrics to be switched on. even an RCD would not have stopped him losing an arm and an eye, and finally getting shot.

BGB does not apply to boats and marine craft. Besides i am sure Nelson would be classed as a skilled or trained person therefore nor RCD requiered

I'm assuming from your sobriquet, that you may well have worked as an electrician in the Navy.
Not being an Andrew myself, I don't have much experience of on board electrics.
Considering how much water is about on boats and ships, how many RCDs were fitted on the boats and ships on which you served.
Dare I ask how many people serving in the Navy have been fried because of a lack of RCD protection?

No never been in the navy (I have a boat its 48ft long)
I run a company that specialises in Garage works shops and showrooms.
I would have thought that a ship with water in it would probably be sinking.
Do they not have special fittings with high IP ratings
May be fit them in to the show rooms? Or do you not think that situations with wet or damp floors need any extra consideration?
In Portsmouth, sparkies when they come across a botched job, say it must have been done by a docky or a skate
