How can we put an end to this drivel? Why is there people out there unqualified and inexperienced bluffing their way into work. Taking work from fully qualified time served lads?Theres a couple in my area. Driving round in vans with schemes tatooed all over them. They look the biz - the outfit. But I know they are not electricians. They are chancers bluffing their way through. The 17th Edition minimum requirement to have a schemes backing...its a farce. The problem I have is the customers can't differenciate from a fully qualified. 17th edition, 2391, tech cert nvq3 electrician from a 17th edition short course idiot! It boils my blood

Would probably be covered up wouldn't look good a government scheme designed to improve electrical safety killing people

Hardly worth the effort there supposedly assessed as competent

Find it interesting that in another thread someone who proclaims his competence when it comes to testing can't use his meter properly!!

Here's my point how can people complain about deskilling of the industry and how Electrical Trainee will cause global destruction, yet do nothing about it ?. See a problem then report it however small, if the nic, napit etc start getting inundated with complaints then something will have to change, it's either that or just rant on here.

Alex the repercussions of the Electrical Trainee will only start to arise in 10-15 years time when installations are due for upgrades.

I'm saying is that if people dont report the people responsible for poor works how can they expect anything to change, it's one thing complaining on here but it wont acheive anything.

So the tories would go to great lengths to cover up something related to a policy brought in by labour right? I suppose the witnesses were all found in the woods with their wrists cut David Kelly style? And the press were told to keep quiet too? Cos we all know the press do what they're told.....

Tel, this is some rough old work, for sure, but I don't see how you can know for sure what type of training the offender did. Its not the type of thing a DI would brag about to his clients.
Looks to me like it was done by either someone with no training at all ie builder or someone who was deliberatly ignoring their training. If you know for sure it was a Electrical Trainee, I'll take your word for it, but surely they are taught basic things like don't leave single insulated wires on show? Who knows?

Labour covered a hell of a lot up not least it's incompetence at setting up a competent persons scheme

Part P is under review and a consultation document is out at the moment so the Tories obviously think that Labour's train'em quick think their qualified scheme is flawed. Looks like any currently registered scheme members will escape the chop if they raise the competence levels though

Elecsa guy told me it's grandfather rights, so if registered within last two years automatically accepted.

This "fast track" bashing is really getting stupid to be honest and making the argument much less credible.

Anyone who's done a "Electrical Trainee" course will have learnt on day 1 that the junction box shown is not acceptable.

This work is clearly by someone who's completely unqualified, or someone who is lazy. That lazy person could be anyone.

peterdaniels, you have shown your intelligence and what you really are...

For your information, I am a degree level engineer with years of experience with electrical work on sound stages and domestically. I am a competent plasterer, plumber and builder. I am also a member of MENSA.

If you don't think I'm a competent electrician because I've not spent 3 years on an apprenticeship learning much of what I already know, I personally couldn't care less! I likely learnt more about electrics during A-level physics than you did during your apprenticeship.

PS: Don't bother with forums after drinking!

Why is that stupid peterdaniels?

You've clearly not done A-level physics. Mine involved very in-depth electrical theory? Surely a lot of which is in your "core qualification". Why is that funny to you?

If you think my degree is worthless that's your opinion. You've clearly not done one.

Edit... additional...

Seriously have you not been drinking? You're ranting on like a mad-man!
