Just tested a flat no cpc to lights and switches , so on the report class 2 etc etc but the people are selling and there are 4 metal light fittings which are now pendants but I know from what's been asked and hinted he will put the metal lights back up nothing I can do to cover myself

Re: what should i do

Whacking a sticker on the CU cover, stating that circuits ? & ? have no provision for earthing and that metal fittings shouldn't be used, wouldn't hurt either.

Why? There is a perfectly good EICR being given to the customer, they will be well aware of the dangers once they have read it.

Should we also put a sticker on DBs if there are sockets that aren't RCD protected?

Were you asked to change the fittings?

What gave you the authority to make alterations?

You were there to do an EICR, fill it in and get paid. You can only advise, if the client chooses to ignore the advice it’s not your problem.

It’s a wonder you’re not getting charged for refitting them.

Re: what should i do

If there is not a sticker stating what circuits can only have class 2 equipment connected to them, then this should be noted on the EICR.
if you have removed lights etc to make it a class 2 circuit then it is your responsibility to put the sticker on.
You can buy then or make then on a Dymo (or any other make) printer

Re: what should i do

A sticker is a good idea as not every one has access to the certificate so any one switching off the circuit should see the sticker its called covering you backside me id take a pic too

Re: what should i do

Why does it need a sticker? All class 1 appliances have been removed from the circuit. The circuit complied when it was wired. Any future work should be carried out by a competant person who should know the regs so will be aware when they look at the circuit what is suitable to connect to it.

Re: what should i do

OK I’ll repeat myself.
