Hi Everybody Has anybody on here any experience of using a Bosch GMS 120 cable detector? The scenario I have is that I am working on a stone built cottage ,plastered with sand and cement which I guess was rewired 30 + years ago where all the cables have been plastered into the walls and not...

I'm considering having 3 phase installed

Be aware that if the recently installed transformer to which you refer has been installed under a certain time period [ i think 5 yrs but not 100 % sure, could be 10] then you would be required to pay half the cost of the transformer upgrade, which WPD would then refund to the person who paid...

I use Wiska boxes quite a bit but when using with armoured cable I tend to go for the Newlec version and use everything nuts.

    Signing off work

As previously stated P666 would need to be insured and a member of a scheme and more importantly and I am sure it would not apply in this case make sure he does not forget to inform HMRC of his additional earnings. What is to stop them going into a Local Authority and asking to see a list of who...

    MK Egatube boxes

I don't think the ega ones are made anymore. I have tried to get flush plastic boxes myself and failed. Builder I work with is of the opinion that plastic should be used when plastering with lime , which is starting to happen more often now.

    HELP with quote please.

How do you know that the first fix has been done correctly? If for some reason the No 2 hits the fan who will the authorities be coming after you or the first electrician? Walk away from this is your best course of action. Never ever do a job like this and most certainly never do a job when you...

    High Ze, Whose. Responsibility.

I would do the same as you. Had a similar situation once and when I rang the WPD call centre they did not want to know , would not acknowledge that the TNS supply was anything to do with them and it was down to me to sort it out. Fortunately I had the phone number of the local office and was...

Is there really no right way to work with down lights and insulation?

I have a similar situation at the moment. I like Midwest's idea of battening off, will put it to the client they were wary of cutting holes in the Kingspan and were going to use surface spots instead.

Looking for 200W LED Floodlight brand recommendations

Can not advise on 200 watt fittings but am becoming more sceptical about the so called life of fittings to the point where I am now starting to write installation dates and name of supplier on back of fittings. I fitted two 30 watt fittings over a farm yard in Oct 2015 and two weeks ago fitted...
