    would have to agree a multi way contactor with single switch controling the coil would be the standard option for this set up. prob feed a load of cheap metal halide fittings instead of jarassic halogens . what carbon footprint :eek:

    always done me own ,had a good grounding off a skilled spread. its like everything i surpose, once you've been shown the right way to do stuff its a lot easier.

    better tip is buy the plaster board bonding adhesive and leave the bag open for a week or so. sets solid in 20mins ,perfect for setting out boxes in hollow blocks. always got a few bags "maturing" ready to go. time is money.

    tns 60amp main earth size

    looked at an installation today its a tns 60amp supply with 16amp tails & 10mm main earth. main protective bonding of water and oil is 10mm. take it main earth needs upgrading to 16mm?

    if its a decent length of run and has insulation round it your on the limit with a 8.5kw shower not ideal. had plumber a ring me up today asking about a shower swap a customer had bought . "can i put this 10.5kw instead of the broken 8.5kw which is on 15m run of 6.0mm2" answers on a post card

    Soldering

    yep decent plumbers flux is pretty nasty stuff when left on copper after soldering. needs wiping off with a damp cloth or it turns the joint green and keeps on "eating".

    new build certification

    yep jason its not something you'd expect to see on any new installation really ,rewire or new build. 433.1.5 mention's consideration for seperate circuts /sharing of load but thats it, nothing set in stone.
