Has Electrician made a mistake with height?

I'm am assuming this is an office in your house? Is 30 cm too high really such an issue? It's going to be surrounded by printers etc. I'm sure it's honest mistakes on both parts. You have said yourself you have had a lot on your plate so maybe didn't make it clear. different if it was in your...

Has Electrician made a mistake with height?

The electrician has my sympathies here. He has obviously installed them at the height he thought you required them, keeping them at switch height for aesthetic reasons. What height are your switches? Is it the old height of around 1300mm or are they around the 1metre mark? The latter dosent...

Anyone done work for LOM Maintenance?

I've had calls up here in Scotland from LOM and other variations. I did eventually get paid but just because they realised I wasn't going away. now I just say money up front , they refuse and when I point out that they get paid upfront they just give up. bunch of charlatans , preying on the weak.

    EICR on a Sunday

I simply tell the customer they are paying for a report, as I find it. I leave it fully confident that they can get another sparky in if they wish to verify any faults I have highlighted.

    Ring mains continuity test-problem

How many sockets are we talking about? Visual inspection is the way forward here. Chances are if the earths have come out the terminals, then other connections may also be dodgy. 20 sockets? 5 min a socket ? Less than 2 hours and all is checked, sleep easy!

    Quickly watch wacthdog now

Never seen it, but these programmes often highlight " problems" which really are not. I've seen them pick up on connector blocks, well taped up while obviously it's work in progress. Don't know about you guys but it's common practice some of the dangers they highlight.

RCD tripping when earth core touched

Touching an earth core shouldn't trip an rcd. cutting the cables ( shorting the N & E) usually does

    Home Automation

For it to work as per people's perception of it , it really is top end of the market. The cheaper options are really just gimmicks. Its really more suited to computer geeks IMO

    rcbo tripping intermittantly

a one socket ring dosent sound quite right, however. it sounds like either an earth / neutral fault ( have you carried out your IR tests?, could be a faulty rcbo, have you tried it with another? ,,or it could be whatever appliance is drawing from the circuit that's the 3 in would be looking at first

    electricial drawing

I think a very basic hand drawn effort showing L thru switch to lamp back to neutral completing the circuit would suffice. Maybe also show how electricity wants to travel to earth, again very basic .i.e explain how birds can sit on overheads ( but not guys!:-)) My explanation to non techy folk...
