    Extending Circuits????.....

    depending if the customer will pay for your time, it's good to try and run a new feed to the nearest socket or light fitting, that way no joint required. But otherwise no problem with crimps.

    Just a thought, but is there enough capacity in the supply to No 10 and 11 to add No 12 to it? That way they are all on the same phase and unless it is a problem for the flat to be on a Key meter, then no need for a meter change.

    I would run a new circuit, partly so there was no risk of overloading if you ever did have all the hob rings on full and the oven on full, but also that if there is ever a fault with the oven or hob it won't affect the use of the other.

    You're probably guessing right Vessy. I expect the neutral has been picked up from the ring circuit. As you have probably realised it wouldn't be a good idea to follow Johnnyboy's advice of putting all the lights on one cicuit as this wouldn't give any discrimination in the event of a fault...

    I have heard of this problem being a faulty CFL. I best to change the CFL for a new one.

    If a Customer wants a shower put in and they have a 3036 Fuse board, you either need to change the board or split the tails. Bearing in mind alot of 3036 boards only have a 60A Main switch, I wouldn't install a 7.5Kw load on one.

    Re: Is 0ne 30mA RCD acceptable to cover all circuits in 3 bed semi - any reccomendati I usually install a High Integrity Dual RCD Board as standard. That way the lights are totally seperate on RCBOs and the rest divided between the Two RCDs. Split load boards with one RCD may still be useful...

    Sounds like another case of whoever installed the cables orginally not tagging the switched live which should feed a light. There are some old ways of wiring two way switching which can cause problems too. Need to know how many cables are at each light to try and resolve this. Like Bugsy says...

    Advice needed please

    If both dimmers are fed form the same lighting circuit, you may need to upgrade the circuit suppy cable and possibly the breaker/fuse. The total load of both dimmers comes to just over 7 Amps.

    Just a thought, but why not extend the ring to the double socket, then spur off the double socket to your FCU. Or extend the ring all the way out to your FCU, So, all in all the new double socket and FCU will be in the ring.

    I wouldn't come off the shower circuit, is meant to be dedicated to the shower only. Is the existing socket in the room below on a cavity wall? Any chance of pulling a cable up through the cavity?

    I can't see a problem with earth sleeving being to big, but if it's too small and it splits it could cause arcing.
